A New Dream

If you look at my post history, you’ll notice that it’s not very long and there is a sizable gap between posts. A three month gap to be exact. I’ve found myself on a bit of a roller coaster ride over the past few months juggling work, family, finances, and current events that have left me and my husband in an uncertain place. I guess I can say the only certainty we have right now is that we are not going to move to Maui anytime soon.

I won’t go into too many details, but as we prepared our minds and started preparing our home, friends, and families for this big life change, we met a number of roadblocks and speed bumps that caused us to start to re-think the plan. In addition, the devastating wildfire that engulfed and destroyed the beautiful town of Lahaina created a huge hurdle. While the residents of Lahaina are trying to rebuild their town and community, and secure housing for everyone who lost their homes, we thought it unwise and unfair to try to move onto an island that already faces a disproportionate affordable housing crisis.

Once we made the decision to hold off for the foreseeable future our big plan to move our life to Maui, I started thinking about how to shift this blog from that story to a different story. I’ve committed to this endeavor and I have always wanted to create a space for myself to share my interests and thoughts. So, here we are. I’m not certain exactly what this space will look like over time, but I have some ideas.

My husband and I wanted to take the leap to move to Maui in the first place because we value adventure and living life to the fullest. We want to experience all that life has to offer to us and both have an adventurous spirit. We love to travel, explore in the outdoors, try new hobbies, and find ways to make everyday more beautiful and fulfilling.

I would love to share that spirit with you to encourage you to find your own way to do the same. I’ve always said that I want to cultivate positivity where and when I can. Life is an adventure, whether you’re packing up your life and moving to Maui, or you’re building a space in your home that evokes joy. Maybe you’re exploring a nearby park in your town, or you’re going on an African safari. It doesn’t always matter if the adventure is grand or if it is a small endeavor. The pursuit of joy and happiness isn’t always in the big things in life. So here I am, sharing with you the small things and the grand adventures, and all of the joy in between.
